Butterfly Milkweed - Asclepias tuberosa

Today I had the pleasure of visiting a private prairie in Topeka. The land has been a family hay meadow for generations. It was a lovely way to spend the morning, sharing knowledge with landowners. Butterfly milkweed was one of the species blooming there.

Did you know butterfly milkweed is the only milkweed in KS that does not produce the characteristic milky sap?
