I have long been interested in how human use plants in their lives: for food, for medicine, for clothing, for housing. Recently, my interest in native plants as food has grown. I want to transform my book knowledge of wild food plants into practical knowledge. My focus will be the native plants found in and around the Kansas City area. This will, primarily, be an exploration of the tallgrass prairie and eastern deciduous forests, though I will from time to time delve into the non-native plants common in the urban core and suburbia.
